About Me

Hi, I’m Katie. I’m here to help you through every step of your publishing journey! After my 1995 graduation from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota’s heartland with a degree in Mass Communications and Marketing, I immediately started working in the printing industry. I spent some time in commercial and promotional print, then started collaborating with writers and independent publishers in 2009, helping authors and illustrators to successfully publish hundreds of titles. With KnockOut, you’ll be in direct contact with me as we manage your project through the steps where you need the most assistance. We offer services for the entire process, but can step in and out based on your specific needs!

The first step is to reach out and schedule some time to tell me more about your book project and your publishing goals. We’ll work together every step of the way!

Your Publishing Journey

The first step is to reach out and schedule some time to tell me more about your book project and your publishing goals. We’ll work together every step of the way! We’ll review your work and determine your publishing needs.

What to consider:

  • 1.  Is your content really ready to go? This is the time to finish up any edits you’d like to make on your own. KnockOut can provide a full content overhaul, a lighter edit, or just a final proofread.
  • 2.  Cover the cover. Any book’s initial appeal depends on a captivating cover design. KnockOut will design a few covers with your input, then you choose the direction for the final cover. We’ll walk you through what to include to make the most of the precious real estate on your book cover.
  • 3.   Invite the reader inside. Whether your book contains illustrations, photographs, text, or a combination of elements, it needs to be properly formatted for the manufacturing process, and to make for an enjoyable reader experience. We can provide the design for you, or work with your designer to be sure everything is print-ready.
  • 4.   Print that book! Printed books are still preferred by the majority of readers, but know that we can provide your book in an ebook format as well. For your printed copies, rely on our expertise in paper weights and finishes, as well as ways to make your book stand out. All of our printing, whether hardcover or paperback, is done right here in the USA.

  • 5.  Market, market, market. We’ll help you define your target market and make suggestions for promoting on social media. This will be an ongoing conversation, stemming from our initial publishing goals.
  • 6.  Store books and fulfill orders. We can ship books to you, but can also store some on site to take the hassle out of fulfilling orders from your garage or extra bedroom. We’ve got a climate-controlled warehouse and all of the packing materials handy to be sure your readers receive orders. Most orders are shipped out within 24 hours. We can ship a single book, a full case, or a full pallet wherever you need books to go!
